NiKNaK Productions presents It Takes A Lot Not To End Up Dead, a cabaret of toe- tapping original songs and stories, weaving a conversation with Lizzie Flynn and her younger self (played by Ella Macrokanis) whilst she heads to her country town school reunion. The story revisits shared experiences of lost love, self-discovery, friendships and the healing that going home brings. This country cabaret resonates with the theme of how our regional communities, with their sense of time, history and relationships, provide us with a healthy sense of belonging and wellbeing. Even when we have been a million miles away, that 'no place like home' can be the foundation upon which we build our resilience and acceptance of self. It’s never too late to reconnect, a concept highlighted by this intergenerational cast of performing artists. With our current climate of returning and staying close to home, It Takes A Lot offers audiences a glimpse into the bitter-sweet moments, memories and shared life experiences that upon reflection, help us grow together as health, happy individuals. Community Engagement

Lizzie Flynn, an Education Qld music teacher and Ella Macrokanis, a private vocal coach have both worked with choirs of differing ages. Together they have designed a community workshop to engage with local school choirs, pub choirs or other singing groups with varying abilities or experiences.
