A stunning spoken word theatre production from the award winning poet, Anisa Nandaula.

Navigating the intersection between relationship, identity, culture and place, award winning poet Anisa Nandaula joins forces with Pru Wilson (dance) and Benjamin Shannon (drums/percussion) to discover HOW TO SPELL LOVE.

Recognised for its critical social and political commentary, Anisa Nandaula's body of work as a writer journeys into powerful new territory with this production. Exploring the experience of a young woman of colour growing up in Brisbane, How to Spell Love weaves itself through words, physical movement, rhythm and a distinctive music soundtrack, unpacking the complex dynamics which underpin even the most simple moments.

‘(How to Spell Love) is delivered with a complex intensity that cannot help but evoke an entire suite of emotions. In Nandaula’s renditions, there’s simultaneously roaring anger and dark resignation; triumph and terror, love and sadness.’ - Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane
