Safe things are boring. Danger is fun.

Why not change your community forever? Danger Club is Circa’s enrichment program offering:

Ongoing connection with one of the world’s great performing arts companies.

Deep legacy and skills development outcomes

Engagement with teenagers in art, art making and personal development

Membership to an exclusive on-line community with other club participants around Australia and across the world

A show made by and for members of the community.

In Danger Club, teenage participants learn Circa’s skills and repertoire and use it to explore their relationship to danger in a site-specific environment. They create a show under the direction of Circa’s teaching artists and present it for public performance. The show is focused on ideas of danger, safety, transgression and connection. Ongoing connection to Danger Club participants and return engagements are key components of this program

Considerations

Danger Club has a substantial presenter commitment to identify and recruit the participants for the project.

Circa Contemporary Circus is one of the world's leading performance companies. Since 2004, from its base in Brisbane, Australia, Circa has toured the world - performing in 40 countries to over a million people. Circa's works have been greeted with standing ovations, rave reviews and sold-out houses across six continents.

Circa is at the forefront of the new wave of contemporary Australian circus - pioneering how extreme physicality can create powerful and moving performances. It continues to push the boundaries of the art form, blurring the lines between movement, dance, theatre and circus, and is leading the way with a diverse range of thrilling creations that 'redraw the limits to which circus can aspire" (The Age).

Under the direction of circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz, Circa features an ensemble of exceptional, multi-skilled circus artists who have been a regular fixture at leading festivals and venues in New York, London, Berlin and Montreal with seasons at Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Barbican Centre, Les Nuits de Fourvière, Chamäleon Theatre as well as major Australian Festivals.

Unique Selling Point

An intensive creation and rehearsal period (between one and four weeks) gets the participants ready to perform with, about and despite danger. They learn skills, share experiences and engage creatively with each other and the theme of danger.

The performance arrives. Audiences enter an immersive world where all senses are activated. Physical skills, the talents of the participants plus our acrobatic Danger Leaders together create an hour of spine-tingling theatre, circus, music and environment.
