A circus adventure for 3-6 year olds!
Big Tops & Tiny Tots is a circus show made just for little ones, introducing young audiences to the world of live performance. Since 2014, Big Tops has toured to over 500 kindergartens and preschools around Australia. Walking the tightrope between education and entertainment (designed to align with the Early Years Learning Framework), Big Tops & Tiny Tots explores themes of healthy eating, communication and balance while teaching kids how to be in an audience.
In a screen-time world, Big Tops introduces kids to performance that talks back, is constantly engaging, and inspires kids to get out and give it a try. This is not a story-driven show: instead, it's a rollicking adventure through circus, as Luth leads the children on an exploration of circus skills, gets stuck, and needs their help to finish the show. After 50 minutes of endless giggling, they’ll be somersaulting out the door with excitement, ready to set off on their very own circus adventure.
This solo show is created and performed by Solid State Circus co-director Luth Wolff, drawing on years of experience as an Arts-in-Education provider and youth circus coach.
“Wolff has created the perfect introduction to circus for very young audiences” – ★★★★ Broadway Baby.

- Considerations
This show has extremely minimal tech requirements, and can be performed almost anywhere, including normal kindergarten / community centre rooms. With no technicians required, a bump in time of less than an hour and a touring party of just one person, it is a simple and cost-effective show to present. Ideal venues are where kids can sit on the floor on the same level as the performer.

Unique Selling Point
Unlike many kids shows, Big Tops is designed specifically for the under 6's. It's engaging in a way that TV isn't, talking back to the kids and being part of a live performance experience. It's a rollicking adventure through circus, with plenty of help from the audience that keeps even the littlest of Tiny Tots fully engaged.

Community Engagement
Circus Skills Workshop Luth can facilitate a 30 minute circus skills workshop after the show, for up to 30 kids (and their parents!). Kids can try skills they’ve seen in the show, including juggling, skipping and balancing, in a fun creative play environment. Parents are encouraged to join their children in play, and maybe take home a new skill or two!
Circus skills help develop fine and gross motor skills, teamwork & trust, communication and problem solving, not to mention it’s heaps of fun!
Circus workshops can be extended upon further by the local community, by making their own circus equipment and putting on a show.

Media Review
"The plate spinning, hula hooping, unicycling extravaganza, which has been designed with ‘tiny tots’ in mind, completely captivated its audience of little people (as well as their parents) with non-stop circus tricks, slapstick comedy, a hint of magic and just the right amount of silliness to maintain an infectious trill of giggles peeling across the tent throughout."
