Townsville is the unofficial capital of North Queensland; a city with a hub of culture and famed for its tropical climate and surroundings. Townsville has a booming tourism industry and it’s easy to see why – local attractions abound the area, and it is a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, the beach and garden sights of The Strand, Magnetic Island and more. After local government amalgamations in 2005, Townsville and neighbouring Thuringowa were joined bringing Riverway Arts Centre with it.

Townsville is located on the coast, 1335 km (15 hr drive) north of Brisbane and 345 km (4 hr 30 min drive) south of Cairns.
