Founded in 1824 by John Oxley, Redcliffe was named for its red-coloured cliffs with a close proximity to the water.  A popular sea-side resort nowadays, Redcliffe is a sports and recreation hub next to the sea, and on Good Friday each year yacht enthusiasts can get involved with a race between Brisbane to Gladstone in the Redcliffe Sails Festival.

Redcliffe is just 30 km (1 hr drive) north east of Brisbane.
