Scenic and serene, Maleny is situated within the picturesque heights of the Sunshine Coast hinterlands. Maleny was proclaimed a town in 1891, and was originally a timber town owing to its location among pocketed forests. The Maleny Butter Mill Factory was founded in 1904 and that began a prolific reputation for the town’s excellent dairy industry, having several small-scale festivals to celebrate including the Agricultural Show and the Real Food Festival. The town is also renown for its organic agriculture, and is home to the Baroon Pocket Dam that hosts an enthusiastic water sports community.
Maleny is located 95 km (1 hr 30 drive) north of Brisbane and 40 km (40 min drive) west of the Sunshine Coast.
