We are a remote Western Queensland Shire Council covering an area of 61,000 square kilometres and with only a population of 460 people. The Council is responsible for management of roads sewerage, water, tourism, library, RADF, sports and housing. Council supports many organisations in the town with monetary and in kind support.

Objectives

Stage shows and art workshops are very popular. The population here is reliant on their own entertainment as the nearest large centre for arts and cultural activities is 300kms away.

Audience Insights

Our audiences at events in the community are made up of non-Indigenous and Indigenous families and older people. Usually 100 people would be a safe estimate of attendants.

Additional Information

We would like to appeal to more Indigenous community members.

In the tourist season there are many visitors from non -English speaking countries and a diverse selection from all over Australia.
