Dirranbandi was established in 1885, sitting neatly alongside the Castlereagh Highway and perpendicular to the Balonne River. It’s home to the Cubbie Station, the largest producer of cotton in the southern hemisphere, and the natural splendor of the Culgoa Floodplain too. Dirrabandi hosts an annual show in April, and the town also had the honour of being the last destination for the mail train to operate in Australia in 1990.

Dirranbandi is just 70 km north of the NSW boarder and 600 km (6.5 hr drive) west of Brisbane.
