The Nitwits are the most amazing thing to happen to children's entertainment since a cat first rode a roomba. Matty and Teddly are loud, naughty, bright and absolutely hilarious.
In a creepy house, deep in the creepy woods, there is a book that’s, well… a bit creepy. It might smell like old person farts, good cheese and old socks but the book is really a magic First Edition that holds the souls of all fairytales within its pages. When the book is accidentally burned all the stories are destroyed with it. Goldie who and the three what? Little Red Riding where now? Matty & Teddly have until dawn to rewrite the book and save the stories from being lost forever. Hopefully they can get the stories mostly right… (but it’s unlikely).

- Considerations

Last Dodo are a small company that primarily focuses on producing theatre works for young audiences. Our aim is to create interactive comedy shows for primary aged audiences to foster an early love of live entertainment. We tour extensively around Australia and limited touring internationally.
Unique Selling Point
Matt and Kat make shows that are just fun! Audience participation is a must for every new work they create. They also pride themselves on writing shows that kids and adults can enjoy together. Unlike other kids shows where parents try to quietly nap until its over, The Nitwits get them laughing along with the kids.
Marketing Materials
Fun high quality templates for posters and flyers. Press releases which highlights that the show is written by Matt Grey, who is a descendant of Beatrix Potter, and Kat Placing, who is descended from a relative of Hans Christian Anderson. Having come down through the generations these two Australian children's performers have come together to re-write classic children's tales.
Previous season sold well for school holiday marketing and with offering discounts to vacation care groups.
Community Engagement
This show has two great options for community engagement if pursued with cooperation between venue and Last Dodo. Firstly we have the ability to run a "Magic book" cover art competition. Children from the community are asked to design what the cover of a "magic" book should look like. The winning design is then reproduced and used as the cover of the "magic" book in the show. The winner can then be offered free tickets to come to the show to see their design on stage.
After the show there is the option for the venue to host a small "Teddly Bear's picnic" in the foyer or other open space near the performance space. As the audience has just witness a show about fairytales, Teddly will sit down with the audience and ask them to tell her their favourite stories. Together they then improvise ways to make those stories funnier. These picnics are best kept as very informal events with a few rugs and cushions laid out and allowing for the children and parents to engage with Teddly on their own terms.
