“The Life and Music of Rodgers & Hammerstein” presents the story of the most successful partnership in the American musical theatre - Richard Rodgers (composer) and Oscar Hammerstein II (lyricist).

The first Rodgers & Hammerstein musical was “Oklahoma”, and was also the first of a new genre - the musical play. It was a delightful fusion of Rodgers' musical comedy and Hammerstein's operetta. This represented a milestone in the development of the American musical, and marked the beginning of the most successful partnership in Broadway musical history.

Many more musicals followed - Carousel, Allegro, South Pacific, The King And I, Me And Juliet, Pipe Dream, Flower Drum Song and The Sound Of Music. They also wrote “State Fair” which was a musical specifically for the big screen,and “Cinderella”- for television.

This live performance takes you on a journey through their lives and their musical careers, and features many of their most well known songs, including Oklahoma, Some Enchanted Evening, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Nothing Like A Dame, and Climb Every Mountain.

Considerations

This performance is suitable for all ages, although not specifically a childrens show - it is a show that will delight the whole family. There is no adult only content, and it can be adapted to suit the venues requirements. This production is currently in the planning stage, and therefor there are no video clips, JPEGs or social media links available. We can provide full production if the venue has nothing available, or supplement if the venue has limited equipment. We will have video clips available as part of the show, but these are not essential to the performance.
