Unique Selling Point

Flipside Circus has delivered workshops/residencies in 54 regional and remote Queensland (despite COVID-19) over the last 3 years. The Cubby has grown out of these residencies and community demand for a circus show for and about regional Queensland.

The first creative developments have/are taking place in 2021 and the show will premiere in the first half of 2022.

The Cubby is being designed as a 'big little show' it will travel in a small truck with a touring party of 3 and be equally at home in a performing arts centre, a school of arts/town hall, or at a school under B-Block.

Marketing Materials

A full suite of marketing materials (including social media assets) will be developed in 2022 including:

  • Professional publicity images;
  • Form press releases;
  • Short video trailer;
  • Teacher resources.

Community Engagement

A range of community engagement opportunities are available with the show. Activities can be tailored to meet the needs of schools, venues, and communities and include:

WORKSHOPS The touring team can run a series of workshops in schools or in venues.

The workshops introduce participants to a range of basic circus and teamwork skills. They are suitable for a wide range of ages and can work as school holiday programs, directly with community organisations (dance schools, gymnastics, football clubs, PCYC's etc), or in schools. The workshops are broken into age groups with caps on participants and are usually 45-90 mins duration.

PRE/POST SHOW DISCUSSIONS Link directly with education resources for school audiences.

RESIDENCIES Flipside trainers can work with local communities over a number of days to build circus skills, begin to create performances, and explore some of themes of The Cubby. Residencies work well as after school activities or as a school holiday program.

COMMUNITY ACTIVATIONS Flipside can create activities for the community while the circus is in town. With additional planning Flipside can travel with portable circus equipment including a free-standing trapeze.
