A journey through the greatest works of, some would say, the greatest Band ever! This show 'reworks' 25 Beatles classics to bring them to the audience 'Swing Style', without compromising on the original genius of these songs.

'The Beatles Swing' is a unique production; not only does it appeal to lovers of the works of Lennon and McCartney it thrills big band enthusiasts and is cleverly brought to life by Craig Martin, a native of Liverpool who has played at the Cavern Club as a budding musician in the 1990's and beyond, but who now as a citizen of Australia is a dedicated follower of all things swing and is a regular on the Festival circuit throughout Queensland and beyond!

Because of Craig's proven musicianship and excellent front man personality, Sony/ATV have entrusted him with these precious songs and granted him permission to rearrange, rework and present these songs in a new and exciting show. As a custodian of these songs Craig has chosen the finest arrangers to work with and is lucky enough to have some of the most talented musicians in Queensland in his band to bring these familiar tunes back to life!

Considerations

The Beatles Swing Show is a unique, classy Family Show celebrating the music of the Beatles, but with a slight twist, the songs now swing! There is a new and exciting Big Band Sound to these songs and you will notice that there is NO guitar in the band, all the iconic Beatle guitar parts are now performed either on piano, saxophone, trumpet or even the clarinet!

Craig Martin has now over ten years of experience producing, directing and starring in shows both in the U.K. and Australia. His most recent shows include: ‘The Beatles Swing’ (featuring his 8-piece Swing Band), ‘A Sinatra Spectacular’ (featuring special guest star Emma Pask), ‘The Vegas Crooners’ (featuring special guest singer Melissa Western) and ‘A Salute to the Crooners’ (featuring The Brisbane Big Band and special guest singer Ingrid James). Since arriving in Australia in 2010 Craig has performed with many Australian greats including: Jessica Mauboy, Emma Pask, David De Vito, John Morrison, Mahalia Barnes and opera star Mirusia. Back in the U.K. Craig produced, directed and starred in: ‘The American Legends’, ‘Elvis (The Sun Sessions)’ and ‘An American Trilogy’. As a vocalist Craig has performed with many Big Bands including: The Syd Lawrence Orchestra (U.K.), The Andy Prior Big Band (U.K.), The Merseyside Big band (U.K.), The Brisbane Big Band, The John Morrison All Star Big Band, The Robert Clarke Big Band, The UQ Big Band and The Swing Force Big Band. As an actor/musician Craig has toured in many productions including: ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’ ‘Buddy Holly and the Cricketers’ ‘The Sound of Fury’ and ‘The Eddie Cochran Show’.

Community Engagement

Craig and the band have performed at a number of events which have been supported by many schools in Brisbane including; Gregory Terrace, Ambrose Treacy College, Sheldon College, Loreto College and Ormiston College. During these performances gifted students from these schools have been invited to perform with the band, giving them an opportunity to play alongside professionals. We have also been able to use school choirs and a few students have performed duets with Craig! Our musicians are also happy to give a 'master class' before the performance to help settle any nerves and again 'add value' to the engagement.
