The Rebirth project stems from the lives of Middle Eastern women, their aspirations, restrictions and freedoms. It explores these topics through contemporary music, Persian Literature (in Farsi and English), classical singing and contemporary Ballet dance. Rebirth is based on poems of famous female poet, Forough Farrokhzad; her poems express different aspects of Iranian female emotions and the notion of dreams, all of which I have personally experienced throughout my life and are common themes in the lives of many Iranian women. Specific section of her poems have been isolated and chosen as the focus of each song. The atmosphere will be enhanced by visual arts and dance to emphasis the meaning of these poems. To achieve this, a team of professionals have been engaged to produce Rebirth. Our team consists of both Australian and Iranian experts, who have been collaborating in order to bring this innovative project together.

Considerations

We require a convenient stage floor for our ballet dancers.

  • As we have painting for each track I prefer to have this opportunity to hang them from the ceiling. Lighting plays a really important part of this show as we have a narrator, a singer, two dancers and musicians, connection between these aspect will be happening with a professional lighting process (e.g fade in fade out between different aspects) for some part of performance we will use the backing track.

The details of stage plan for each song is ready and can be submitted before each show.

Sweet Sound aspires to create a fusion of musical culture. The group was established by Shirin Majd in the year 2000 in Iran. Since then she has performed in a variety of different styles such as, western classical songs, opera and Iranian folk. She has performed extensively across Austria, Iran and Australia. Sweet Sound ensemble achieves the fusion music by presenting programs that take the audience on a journey through diverse musical traditions. It creates unique interpretations of well known Western Classical Music and Iranian folk music. In July 2015. “Rebirth” project was successfully held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane The internationally recognised contemporary ballet dancer, Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam accompanied the “Sweet Sound” ensemble. To achieve this, a team of professionals have been engaged to produce Rebirth. Our team consists of both Australian and Iranian experts, who have been collaborating in order to bring this innovative project together. We believe that music is a fusion of sweet sounds that come from the heart and touch the heart of the audience.

Unique Selling Point

This project has been supported by Art Queensland (projects and programs fund) and will explore innovation and cultural diversity through the never-before combination of contemporary music, Persian Literature (in Farsi and English), classical singing and Ballet along with visual arts to bridge the gap between the east and west. It will contribute to art and artists by creating future opportunities not only for myself, but also for our foreign and local members involved, to further develop their skills.To reach this goal we will have Iranian painting, calligraphy workshop and exhibition. As a singing teacher I will run vocal / breathing workshop.

Marketing Materials

Rebirth consists of performance, exhibition, vocal workshop and recording by myself in collaboration with BEMAC, as they will provide me with public liability insurance, marketing and promotional services, for my first two shows in Brisbane and Gold coast.
 Rebirth will be promoted through a variety of networks to attract the target audience: ABC news, SBS Persian-Farsi Radio, Brisbane’s 4EB Radio, BEMAC and ISQ’s websites and facebook, local and artistic newspaper.
 I would like to develop this project to have several performances around Queensland and Australia; allowing me to share this journey with others from different cultures who have similar experiences.

Community Engagement

This project explores innovation and cultural diversity through the never-before combination of contemporary music, Persian Literature (in Farsi and English), classical singing and contemporary Ballet dance along with visual arts to bridge the gap between the east and west. It will contribute to art and artists by creating future opportunities not only for myself, but also for our foreign and local members involved, to further develop their skills.I have discussed this project with the Iranian Society of Queensland Inc. (ISQ), BEMAC and my Iranian and non-Iranian friends (such as Brisbane Music Performers Club, Iranians women club and Brain Injured Children’s Aftercare Recovery Endeavours (BICARE). They found this project to be creative, inspiring and interesting and have expressed their support to advertise it to their members. Based on my experience with Sweet Sound Ensemble performances around Australia, I believe most of the Rebirth audience would be above 25 years old who are familiar with contemporary music or different languages and looking to find a new taste of music and show. Also the Iranian communities and Farsi language speakers of each region would support and participate in Rebirth show.
