Bold in its vision and deeply evocative, Lisa Wilson's Lake literally floods the entire performance area to create a visually stunning and highly engaging dance theatre work. A seamless fusion of visual design, video projection, an original score and Wilson’s acclaimed choreography, Lake explores our fascination with and fear of water, a medium that can be at turns breathtakingly beautiful and a force of indiscriminate destruction.

Serene, calm, haunting, and menacing, Lake takes audiences on a journey through their primal response to sparkling reflection and murky depths; to intense beauty and chilling isolation; to utter wilderness and timeless myth.

Unique Selling Point

The stage is 'flooded' in water. Marketing this has proved very successful to regional audiences on our recent Road Work tour across Australia. Focusing on this element has been used to pique the interest of the general public, past that of existing dance patrons.

Marketing Materials

Comprehensive teachers notes, high res images, marketing kit and high definition promotional videos available. Lake has also benefited from a successful community engagement plan that ran through the course of its recent national tour.

Community Engagement

The Lake 'company' has the experience to initiate and deliver a flexible and responsive community engagement plan. Lake will be marketed widely to schools, dance schools and youth groups. A choreographic kit for teachers has been developed, focused particularly in the upper primary and secondary school levels. It is available freely to download on www.lisawilson.com.au/education.

The workshop opportunities will be led by Wilson or an experienced rehearsal director and by all performers in the company. Selected performers may also conduct a masterclass on set (in water), to experienced students/pre-professional artists. Workshops aim to inspire, invigorate and educate participants.

An ‘early schools performance’ or matinee, will have an artists talk immediately following the performance, for open discussion and dialogue with the performers. Preceding the tour, contacts can be made through theatre managers networks of dance schools and community groups, who may be interested in not only a workshop but an informal artist talk at their studio, or meet the artists event.

Digital platforms include a facebook and twitter presence currently exist. Lake has high quality photographic and video marketing material. The strength and impact of the visual imagery will drive the sense of expectation and wonder about the piece.
