"The trick is to enjoy the good and know that even the very, very bad ... they're just ... moments."

In this funny, moving story, the unlikely twenty-year friendship between an uptight accountant and a contemplative homeless man changes the course of both their lives.
This touching original story about isolation and the importance of human connection is more relevant now than ever. It is a story about simple moments between people - it is in these moments that we derive the deepest joy and personal satisfaction.

Anywhere Festival is a Queensland based company presenting performances of all genres anywhere but theatres: poetry in car garages, comedy in substations, music in houses, theatre in backyards and circus in driveways.

The festival was created so that independent artists could present work and take creative risks to make fun, interesting and relevant works that connect with spaces and places and can be presented affordably to audiences from 1 to 1000

Since 2011 we have worked with artists to develop over 715 productions that have been presented in Anywhere Festivals or stand alone feature shows in Brisbane, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Mackay, Cairns, Mount Isa, Bundaberg, Wollongong, Sydney and beyond.

Unique Selling Point

The original 10 minute one-act play was performed at Sydney and Brisbane Short and Sweet Festivals, and Anywhere Festival Brisbane, in 2015. Audiences fell in love with these characters, and wanted more from the story, and so the full length play was completed. "In A Moment" was long-listed for the Qld Premier's Drama Award 2015/16. We have held readings at Playlab (after script development) and as part of the Anywhere/UQ Online Theatre Festival in May 2020. This online reading reached a wide audience, and received an overwhelmingly positive response from audience members in different parts of Australia and other parts of the world.

Marketing Materials

"In A Moment" by Tim Jackman and Tammy Tresillian will be presented by Anywhere Festival and directed by Anywhere's Paul Osuch. It is primarily set on a park bench, so the setting can be very simple, or outside. As such, we will be able to make the most of social distancing requirements; with the added advantage of the project being more financially viable than a work with more complex staging requirements. There are 2 lead actors, and only 3 other, relatively small, roles.

Community Engagement

As outlined, the play lends itself to keeping within social distancing requirements, as it can be performed outside. Due to the positive response we received from the Zoom reading in May, we would be keen to explore the possibility to also sell some tickets to a live online Zoom connection for each performance; in this way those in remote areas who are unable to travel, or unable to physically attend due to illness or disability, are still able to engage with a live show in real time. We would also be keen to hold audience question/discussion session post shows, which the audience engaged online could also be a part of. Tammy Tresillian is a high school Drama and Theatre Studies teacher, and would also be happy to facilitate some workshops with Senior students if the play was performed in schools. These workshops could also be run online for students in remote communities. We feel that the appeal of the play is so great, that we would like to be as inclusive as possible in our attempts to engage audience members from all areas of the country.
