ATMOS: meat will take you between the layers, from human to animal and everything in between.
ATMOS: listening parties
Blending audio stories with music and soundscapes, ATMOS is a curated set of audio stories that wraps the audience in a bubble and catapults them, ears first, into the surprising worlds of strangers. ATMOS explores what it’s like to transform, disappear and dream. Collectively listening via silent disco headsets, audiences love the new experience of being submerged in sound whilst watching friends and strangers listen around them and then share their experience with each other in the curated breaks.
ATMOS: meat
Imagine a crowd of strangers squished into a gym, surrounding weightlifters and body builders pumping iron, their movements magnified by walls of mirrors, as lookers-on are transported inside the body through a curated collection of audio stories inspired by the theme meat. Curated especially to be relevant and captivating anywhere in Australia, meat explores the desires, restlessness and longing that pulsates through your body; the flesh it carries, the form it takes, where you turn to nourish it and the way you move in the world as a result. Curated beautifully by Jess Ong and directed by Johanna Bell, meat takes you between the layers, from human to animal and everything in between.

- Considerations
Engaging intimately with the audio stories by use of silent disco headsets, the audience also use their other senses as they sit amongst the gym equipment or hanging meat, as they smell the sweat of athletes or raw cuts of meat and as they taste meaty morsels offered up during the short breaks.
The hero of ATMOS: meat is the stories and sound. But the success of ATMOS is sealed by the multi-sensory submergence of the audience into the theme. As such it is recommended that ATMOS: meat include simple but beautiful visual focal points and props, and the venue must represent the theme.
Audiences who enjoy stories, podcasts and experimental theatre and arts events will love ATMOS.
ATMOS: meat has some mature content and is recommended to audience members of 16 years +
Audience of no more than 130 due to number of silent disco headsets available.

Community Engagement
Sell out ATMOS: meat shows in Darwin saw the audience sit amongst the gym equipment of a local fitness centre surrounding a male weightlifter and a female body builder working out while beautifully lit by spotlights and mood lighting.
ATMOS: meat is flexible and could be presented in other non-traditional venues with different visual focal points – for example butchers or abattoir workers carving meat, circus artists doing a rehearsal for show, martial artists or gymnasts doing their routines in a local gymnasium or ring.
This model allows for community engagement as StoryProjects recommends engaging non-professional athletes, butchers or local circus performers (for example) to ‘perform’ in the show. Performers have the opportunity to participate in an art-form new and exciting to them using their own expertise and skilled bodies. It allows them to share their passions, to a rapt audience.
