Queensland Conservatorium

The Conservatorium Theatre is used for performances, events and conferences.

Four modes of presentation are available.

• Concert mode (sound shell forward, timber floor)
• Lyric mode (sound shell back, black floor)
• Reverse mode (sound shell back, seating on stage)
• Cinema mode (sound shell forward, with screen and sound system)

Acoustics An eighty-tonne moveable sound shell works as a sound reflector for the concert mode and the acoustic curtains and small doors on the shell allow for acoustic variation. Adjustable panels on the auditorium walls further add to the venue's acoustic flexibility.

The Basil Jones Orchestral Hall is an ideal performance venue for small concerts, masterclasses and rehearsals. It contains the Owen Fletcher Pipe Organ. Acoustics The Basil Jones Orchestral Hall is fitted with the same type of acoustic panelling found in the Conservatorium Theatre. It is a venue with a bright sound that can be dampened by the adjustable acoustic panels and by use of the large curtain on the western wall.

This raked-seating venue is ideal for intimate music performances, recitals, chamber music, rehearsals, lectures and seminars.
