Rod Ainsworth from Creative Regions in Bundaberg suggests the age of ‘eat, burp and leave’ touring is over! In this five minute video Rod identifies relevance and making a deep connection as key foundations for community engagement. He highlights the importance of tailoring engagement activity specifically for each community rather than using a cookie cutter approach, which in turn can be the difference between participation and true engagement.
In this second video Rod shares a Creative Regions case study, Tales of the Underground, a new theatre piece which was created locally with the community. He discusses their approach to community consultation, funding and examines some of the tangible outcomes from creating work in this way.
