Yarraman was founded on the banks of the creek which traders and local stockmen would meet and trade cattle in early 1870’s. Within the decade, a township was founded here as Yarraman, taken inspiration from the name “yera” meaning “large teeth” in a northern Aboriginal tongue. In modern times, Yarraman is involved in industries including the export of timber, grain, beef and dairy.
Yarraman is located in South East Queensland, 165 km (2 hr 2 min drive) north of Brisbane and 155 km (2 hr drive) west of the Sunshine Coast.
