Located in the Isaac Region, Moranbah is a coal mining town located on the Peak Downs Highway. Moranbah is a central hub, serving five major mines in addition to several smaller ones. Noted first by Ludwig Leichthart in the 1840s, the town was settled by pastoralists in the 1850s which used the town as a agricultural industry for decades. In the 1970s, the town underwent a significant boom in the mining industry, and since then has seen a rapid expansion in population. Moranbah hosts a Town Rodeo each May.
Moranbah is 1030 km (11 hr drive) north of Brisbane and 200 km (2 hr 15 min drive) south west of Mackay.
