A variety of activities are available in the town, including river cruises, the Stockman Hall of Fame, and a dedicated museum to the Qantas Aircraft Carrier. It also hosts an Agricultural Show each May.

Longreach is located 1,175 km (12 hr 45 min drive) north west of Brisbane and 685 km (7 hr 20 min drive) west of Rockhampton.
