Known as the ‘Peanut Capitcal of Australia’, Kingaroy is an agricultural city in the south-east of Queensland. Thought to be named after the Wakka Wakka Aboriginal word for 'Red Ant', the rural settlement of the town occurred approximately 1843 when founded by Henry Stuart Russel south of Blackbutt. Famed for its peanut silos which are dotted around the town, Kingaroy was also an important hub during World War II for its housing of aircrafts. 

Kingaroy is 225 km (3hr drive) north west of Brisbane and 200 km (2 hr 30min drive) from the Sunshine Coast.
