In Francis Ford Coppola’s 1975 ground-breaking film The Godfather, the head of a prize horse is savagely cut off and placed in the bed of a hotshot Hollywood film director for the refusal of a favour... ever thought about the two guys that had to put it there?
From the writer of Domestic Bliss, I (honestly) Love You and Nature as Explained by Theatre comes a whip-cracking tale of two men (The Fonzie Brothers) given this viciously gruesome task to ensure their future with the mob.
HorseHead opened in 2008 at the Blue Room Theatre (WA) and was nominated for the Western Australian Equity Guild Award for Best Play.

Unique Selling Point
This show is a black comedy that reveals a darkly comic back story to one memorable moment in a famous film... 'The Godfather'. It was first produced in 2008 in Perth (WA). An Italian actor sitting in the audience loved it so much he decided to produce it in Italy. Perth director and playwright Damon Lockwood travelled to Italy to assist with the production, which has gone on to have 6 seasons in Italy and won BEST PLAY AT THE INAUGURAL ROMA FRINGE FESTIVAL ITALY, 2012.
Marketing Materials
Previous fantastic reviews, award winning play, toured Italy (6 seasons) and New York, have great marketing images, included in fee is a 1.5 hour improvisation workshop run by either actor both of whom are graduates from iOTheater in Chicago.
Community Engagement
Included in this show is a 1.5 hour improvisation workshop , we engage with the local community and develop their skills in improvisational performance. These are always immensely well received and participants always feel safe, gain confidence and have a lot of fun! Improvisation creates magic from a story people build together and the core rules work well as life philosophy: Commit fully to the moment you are in, support your peers, say "Yes, And…", and make generous, creative offers. Alternatively if there is interest in the local community, Damon Lockwood can lead a playwriting workshop. Damon has been Literary Manager at Black Swan State Theatre Company and teaches playwriting at the WA Academy of Performing Arts.

‘a kooky, thoroughly enjoyable play… the two actors bounce off each other with perfect comic timing… it is a cleverly imagined farce with a serious question at its heart – what price fame?’ - West Australian Newspaper

Media Review
‘Damon Lockwood’s HorseHead truly is a great piece of theatre… with no prior knowledge of The Godfather’s plot, this reviewer had no problem understanding the content, and thoroughly enjoyed the night… Lockwood and Longley truly command the audience’s full attention…’ - X-Press Magazine

‘Four and a half stars out of five. The play cleverly challenges notions of family, American Italy, and even naval duty, so you’d better be laughing, eh, wise guy?’ – themusic.com.au
